ABOUT US
The Cultural Center for New Orleans in the South of France is an organization dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of New Orleans culture in France and beyond while fostering cultural exchange.
We aim to offer exhibits, live concerts, residencies, as well as interactive programing for the residents of our host municipality.
Mission
The Cultural Center for New Orleans in Southern France (CCNOSF) /aka/ Centre Culturel pour La Nouvelle-Orleans dans Le Sud de La France aims to facilitate international collaboration through the creation of a safe, sustainable healing center for cultural exchange in the Aveyron region of France. CCNOSF shall serve as a space for New Orleans culture bearers to have art exhibitions, a performance venue, an intimate artist/activist residency home for visiting practitioners of both regional and New Orleans arts, and a general community center for the local population. To accompany the physical center, CCNOSF intends to facilitate a variety of exchange programs to take place both within and without the center, such as art exhibitions, rotating gallery space, educational presentations and workshops, live music, theatre and poetry performances, literary projects, studio works, tour stops for traveling musicians in the region, and safe storage for artist ephemera in times of need.
CORE VALUES
As a non-profit institution, CCNOSF observes and maintains the following organizational values as its guide for all operational decisions and practices:
-
Bringing, sharing and creating joy to and among both the culture of New Orleans and the culture of the Aveyron region of southern France serves as CCNOSF’s guiding light. We regard joy as a medicine, and as a tool for connecting peoples across geographic and/or cultural divides.
-
We recognize that Western rationale and technologies are not the only valid ones, and therefore seek to support and facilitate the exchange of wisdom from all spiritual and cultural practices between community members of New Orleans and the Aveyron region of France, both for the sake of community building and in determining the shape and form of CCNOSF’s programs.
-
Because New Orleans is a place currently facing annual threats of environmental and man-made disasters of catastrophic scale, CCNOSF is committed to seeking cross-cultural knowledge and methodologies for renewable environmental practices. We aim to serve as a host for the exchange and collaboration on the growth and spread of such sustainable environmental practices, and to embed such practices into our organizational operations.
-
CCNOSF is committed to creating an environment, both in its physical center and within its programmatic practice, where all creeds, ethnicities, and orientations are welcome and actively engaged.
-
CCNOSF engages itself to be a good citizen of both New Orleans, Louisiana (USA) and Aveyron Region (France) by respecting both locations’ laws and cultures through the practice of the four values outlined above.
Our process is simple and thoughtful.
Create a Louisiana Cultural Center in Aveyron to exchange our cultures, host exhibits and create a strong link with artists from France.
Our center will be conveniently located in Aveyron. A place to gather, grow, and reconnect.
